Spicy Ahi Tuna Lettuce Wraps

1Prepare the Tuna: Ensure the sushi-grade tuna is very cold. Using a sharp knife, finely dice the tuna into small, uniform cubes (about 1/4 inch). Place the diced tuna in a medium mixing bowl.

2Mix the Spicy Sauce: In a separate small bowl, whisk together the Japanese mayonnaise (¼ cup), Sriracha, toasted sesame oil (1 tsp), and fresh lime juice (1 tsp) until completely smooth and uniform in color.

3Combine Ingredients: Pour the spicy mayonnaise mixture over the diced tuna. Add the chopped scallions, grated ginger, and a pinch of sea salt (Pinch).

4Fold Gently: Using a rubber spatula, gently fold the sauce and aromatics into the tuna until everything is just coated. Avoid overmixing, which can break down the tuna texture.

5Chill: Cover the bowl and refrigerate the spicy tuna mixture for at least 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the mixture to firm up slightly.

6Assemble the Wraps: Lay the washed and dried lettuce cups on a serving platter. Spoon 2-3 tablespoons of the spicy tuna mixture into the center of each lettuce cup.

7Garnish and Serve: Garnish the wraps with a sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds (¼ cup) and diced avocado (1 small) (if using). Serve immediately with a side of extra Sriracha for those who prefer more heat.
